Sometimes you just need “throw caution to the wind.” Before I went to Iowa State I knew I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself. I went to Clubfest the first semester of my freshman year and was looking for clubs that involved asian students. My friend and I stumbled upon the Delta Phi Lambda booth and we were both certain that we wanted to join an Asian sorority.
I went in not knowing really what was going to happen. I went to the events and socials that were required. I didn’t think about the amount for dues or how small the organization was. I just knew that I wanted to be with these girls. In a short amount of time, they were so welcoming and accepting that I wanted to be a part of Delta Phi Lambda and be like that for someone else. If I would have never went to club fest and gone to the first info session, I would have never met my Sisters. So if you’re uncertain about joining a club or Greek life, I say just go and see what happens.
